Dawei is situated in the south-eastern part of Myanmar or about 630 km south of Yangon, on the northern bank of the Dawei river estuary. Dawei Special Economic Zone (Dawei SEZ)
Dawei SEZ is officially demarcated by the Republic of the Union of Myanmar under the SEZ Law, enacted in January 2014, covering the total area of 196 Sq.km According to the SEZ Law, the Dawei SEZ is managed by the fully authorized Dawei SEZ Management Committees. The Dawei SEZ has also been supported by the joint cooperation between the governments, the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and Thailand, under the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) named Dawei SEZ Development Company Limited, registered in Thailand in 17 June 2013
MIE is to develop the Dawei Industrial Estate of 27 sq.km, equivalent to 2,700 Hectares, including the necessary infrastructures and utilities as follows:
Road Link, connecting Dawei SEZ with the Thai border;
Dawei IE port;
Gas generator power plants and boil-off gas power plant;
Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power plant;
Water reservoir; and
Township
In addition to the utilities services, the services of the telecommunication landline are to be developed by ITD, together with the natural gas supply to be developed by the consortium of ITD to serve the industries located in the Dawei Industrial Estate.
